Fish the Panama Canal, Considered one of the Best Day Tours in Panama by the Trip Advisor rankings, our fishing excursions are certain to make your trip a memorable one.
Among some places, we will fish in the adjacent area of the world-renowned island of Barro Colorado Nature Monument, which is administrated by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. This Large Island was formed by flooding large tracks of the forest back in 1911 to form Gatun Lake. The structure of this submerged forest is where Peacock Bass, Snook, and Tarpon are the primary inhabitants. We highly respect these waters, fish conservation, and permitted areas. We do practice catch and release. All of Gatun Lake is surrounded by pristine rainforests and you will encounter an abundance of wildlife hiding out in the oldest rainforest reserve in the Western Hemisphere.
We have designed the perfect outing that fits your needs and experience levels – experts, beginners, families, serious anglers, fly fishermen, and parties are all welcome on our trips. We provide transportation, full tackle; live bait all topwater, and trolling lures. We have both spinning and baitcasting rods, plus fly fishing rods and flies.
The trip usually starts at 7:00 a.m. when our captain and English- speaking fishing guide meets you in Gamboa marina, boat ready to head out to Gatun lake for the day.
A regular Fishing trip is 6 hours. All included, we have you covered with an ice chest with waters, sodas, beers, snacks, and sandwiches lunches.
For those anglers who cannot get enough fishing, we also offer an extended fishing trip, which is 9 hours. This Full-Day option includes cooking your catch of the day on the way back to the city. Dinner also can be set up in Panama City.
Our conservation company PANAMA TARPON CONSERVATION www.panamatarponconservation.com is working on a project to create public & international awareness, of this understudied migration behavior and the importance of proper catch and release methods plus tagging programs for local & international sport fishermen. This will allow our guests to tag their fish in their names. To sponsor a tag please contact us at panamatarponconservation@gmail.com
